Wherever You Go

At the very moment the first rays of sunshine stretches its fingers into the morning sky, the shadows of darkness begins its frantic race around the globe at a speed of 1500 km/h to reach the finish line just as the sun disappears over the horizon.

Although mankind has walked on the surface of the moon, climbed the highest mountains and plunged down to the deepest depths of the sea, no man will ever stop the darkness from turning the day into night.

But although there is no way to control the darkness that surrounds us, we can all harness the light inside. At a flick of a switch the darkness dives for cover as the entire room is lit up. In the place we feel our way along the walls in the dark, we can live free and nimble in the light.

But what happens when the globe is blown? We've all experienced what it's like to flick the switch on and off a few more times before finally accepting we've got to do the tedious job of replacing the globe. It's at this point we pull out a light that is always with us – our mobile phones! With a swipe and a press we can get back to what we were doing.

The truth is we can never control our circumstance or the darkness that seeks to surround us. But when the sun goes down and the light globe is blown we all have access to a light that will never go out:

'You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light' – Psalm 18:28 (NIV)

Rather than relying on an external power supply, God gives us a source of light with much longer lasting batteries than our mobile phones! Instead of hoping the lights are working and the situations ahead of you are all under control, God gives us a light within that has the power to light up even the darkest of seasons!

You are not a victim to the darkness that surrounds you, but are empowered to 'turn your darkness to light' as you allow the light of Jesus to shine from the inside. It's not the size of your light that matters, but the source of your light that causes the blackest darkness to flee.

Don't live life depending on external light sources, but light up your life and the lives of those around you by allowing brightness of God to shine from within!
