Power Up

We all need power for life.

I remember the time we needed some extra power to break up colossal pieces of solid granite hiding just below the surface on a block of land a friend was building on.

There was no way the rock could be broken through with a jack hammer or any other machine. We needed something that had the power do what was impossible for us to do on our own, and break up the great mass of rock so the house could be built.

Power enables us to achieve and do things far beyond what our natural abilities allow. Power lifts us higher, propels us further and allows us to breakthrough barriers that would otherwise prove impossible.

We all need power not only to survive, but to thrive in life, and Jesus has given us access to a power that is greater anything we could ever imagine through His gift of the Holy Spirit:

“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you” – Acts 1:8 (NIV)

When the Holy Spirit comes upon us we are given a power far beyond anything else.

The Holy Spirit gives us power to comprehend the love of God, power over sickness and disease and the power to persevere, endure and overcome every circumstance. He gives us the power to resist temptation, power over fear, power in our weakness and power to love the unlovable.

Through the Holy Spirit we have the power to overcome all the spiritual darkness and forces of opposition that seek to overwhelm us. We have been given the power over death, and have been given the power of the resurrection and of eternal life!

Electrical power is only available to those who both have access to it and can afford it, but many of the poorer places on earth have neither access nor can afford it.

But the power of the Holy Spirit is made available to anyone, and no matter who you are the power that Jesus promised is not received by paying for it or by promising moral perfection, but is received through faith:

‘We who are believers… receive the promised Holy Spirit through faith’ – Galatians 3:14 (NLT)

Power up and charge up your life with the power of the Holy Spirit!!
