I did what I swore I would never do.
I knew the hand written words enclosed within those pages revealed hidden truths and opened a window into the depths of her heart that I was yet to see. I needed to know how she felt, and everything within me wanted to reach for her diary and open the pages of her mind.
There are those pivotal moments in life when we feel we must know what another person is thinking. Whether it’s taking a relationship to another level or investing our time and money into pursuing a certain direction, knowing the thoughts and plans of others can have a profound impact on the choices we make, and this is especially true when it comes to knowing the mind of God.
The mind of God goes deeper and reaches further than even the most distant stars and galaxies of the universe, and He applies His limitless imagination to plan and prepare a glorious future for everyone who loves Him:
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him” – 1 Corinthians 2:9
But regardless of how good these plans may be, understanding the mind of God can seem as mysterious and unfathomable as a lovesick bachelor trying to comprehend the mind of someone who may be his future wife!
But the good thing is that rather than remaining locked up or hidden away, God leaves His dairy open and invites us to ‘tune in’ and dive into the depths of His heart by the ‘antanae’ of the Holy Spirit:
‘God [reveals] these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit… shows us God’s deep secrets. No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. And we have received God’s Spirit, so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us’ (2:10-12)
The more words I consumed, the deeper the guilt penetrated until I could read no further. But I had read just enough to give me the confidence to keep moving!
In a similar way, the Holy Spirit will reveal the wisdom of God (but without the guilt!) for your next step as you trust in Him!
