Just because God loves us doesn’t mean He has to trust us.
God’s love is freely given to everyone, but trust is something that’s only given to those who have earned it by proving to be trustworthy.
Matthew 25:23 says that as we prove our faithfulness in the small things, God will entrust us with greater responsibilities. To the trustworthy Jesus will say,
‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’ – Matthew 25:23 (NLT)
It can be easy to neglect the smaller and less glamorous tasks or responsibilities of today while waiting for something bigger and better to come tomorrow.
But Jesus warns us not to be lax with the things of the present, because if we overlook the importance of what we have now, we will not be entrusted with what He has for us next.
In Luke 16:10 Jesus said,
‘If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities’ (NLT)
Never neglect the small things, as the key for promotion tomorrow is to fully engage with the little you have today!
