Your Difference

Whenever a new business, non-profit or product is launched, those in charge of marketing always ask the same question: “What is it about your organisation or product that makes you different from the rest?”. It’s not your ability to reproduce or replicate what others are doing, but your unique difference that helps you stand out from the rest.

Moses knew that the one thing that made the Israelites stand out from all the other nations on earth was the presence of God:

‘For your presence among us sets your people and me apart from all other people on the earth” – Exodus 33:16b (NLT)

It wasn’t a uniqueness in and of themselves that set them apart (in many ways they were just like every other nation), but it was the presence of God that brought them into a land of blessing and abundance. Moses’ prayer was that God’s presence would go with them, a request that God answered and that resulted in powerful breakthrough and abundant provision for His people.

This principle of presence applies to us today. The one thing that will make us stand out like a ‘city on a hill’ is the presence of God. Plans, strategies, marketing, skill, hard work and excellence will always play an important part in determining our direction, but it’s the presence of God that determines the quality and impact of every step we take.

It’s the presence of God that is your difference. It’s the presence of God that breaks through impenetrable walls, gives you victory in the face of defeat and opens the windows of provision that no amount of human effort can attain.

Invite the presence of God into every aspect of your life, and you will see and encounter the difference He will make!
