Make Your Life Great Again

Although we never intend to, at times we can find our life has run off track and we need to find a way to get it back on course. But what are the things that make for a great life? How can we make our life ‘great again’?

Bezalel and Oholiab where two people who discovered the secret to greatness. They lived during the time that Moses had set the vision to build the tabernacle, and now was the time to begin the work:

“The Lord has gifted Bezalel, Oholiab, and the other skilled craftsmen with wisdom and ability to perform any task involved in building the sanctuary. Let them construct and furnish the Tabernacle, just as the Lord has commanded.” So Moses summoned Bezalel and Oholiab and all the others who were specially gifted by the Lord and were eager to get to work’ – Exodus 36:1-2 (NLT)

Bezalel and Oholiab were gifted by God with the skill and the wisdom to do the work He had called them to. But not only did they have the capacity to do it, they also had the right attitude. They were ‘eager to get to work’ because they understood that greatness isn’t found in what they got out of life, but the life they gave to others.

The vision was to build the tabernacle, and these men became the means to the end of accomplishing that vision. Their meaning was found in being a means to the end of building the tabernacle. By serving the vision they became a part of something so much greater than themselves.

As a result of Bezalel and Oholiab eagerly using their gifts to serve others, the tabernacle was finished and went on to serve many generations long after their lives had ended.

Just like Bezalel and Oholiab, we have also being gifted for purpose and are invited by God to eagerly use our gifts to serve others.

Andy Stanley says that, “If all I live for is me, than all I have to show for my life is me. [but] If I live as a means to an end to serve others, I have purpose and I have something more than myself to show for myself!”.

If you want to make your life great again, then eagerly use your God-given gifts to serve a vision that is so much greater than yourself!
