The greatest obstacle the Israelites faced was not the size of the giants that ruled the land, but the size of their trust in God who promised they would soon possess it.
God had already proven again and again how much He loved and cared for His people by delivering them out of slavery in Egypt and miraculously providing all the food and supplies they needed as they journeyed through the hot and barren desert.
But when they came right up to the threshold of entering into all God had promised, rather than unlocking the doors to what was promised with the keys of trust, they gave into mistrust and fear and threw away the keys.
It was not the Giants of the land kept them from entering in, but the giant lack of trust they had in God to take care of them:
‘The people refused to enter the pleasant land, for they wouldn’t believe his promise to care for them. Instead, they grumbled in their tents and refused to obey the Lord’ – Psalm 106:24-25 (NLT)
As a result, the entire nation of Israel missed out on what God had prepared for them.
What ‘pleasant lands’ are we refusing to enter because of our lack of trust in God?
Let’s not throw away the keys of trust, but choose to unlock destiny, provision, purpose and healing by trusting in the goodness of God who has promised to take care of us!
Thank you Shaphan!
The timing of this reflection is God ordained!
