I love Apple products.
They are simple to use, and extremely reliable.
But it doesn’t happen by accident.
It takes a phenomenal amount of creative energy, intentionality and countless hours of programming, design and hard work to produce such user friendly products.
The hard work behind the scenes creates an easily accessible, user friendly product for us to enjoy.
In the same way, I believe that as Christians, we are called by God to do the hard, and some times tedious behind the scenes work necessary to present an easily understandable, very accessible message to the world.
2000 years ago, council in Jerusalem agreed.
Apparently there were those who were making the Gospel extremely difficult to access. In fact you could only access it through the very painful process of circumcision.
But the leaders agreed that this was not a requirement, and said:
“We should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God.” – Acts 15:19 (NLT)
As a result of this favourable verdict, those men who were facing their impending mutilation rejoiced!
It’s a good principle for us to remember:
While never compromising the substance of the Gospel (Repentance & Faith in Jesus alone), we should always work hard behind the scenes to make this Good News the most accessible and ‘user friendly’ message in the world!
